With the league and the players unable to come to an agreement, talks will continue again Wednesday.
The NHL and the NHLPA negotiated a new labor agreement long into Tuesday night but were unable to come to an agreement and will meet again on Wednesday night.
It’s unclear what, if any, progress was made during the meeting, though ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun did opine that it was good news that the two sides talked late into the night.
There has been an optimistic feel around the negotiations dating back to last weekend, as the two sides have met more frequently in recent days than at any point during the lockout so far. The NHL recently canceled the Winter Classic, its marquee game of the regular season.
Prior to this past weekend, the two sides had not met face-to-face since Oct. 18, but the two sides are now working feverishly to find common ground on important issues like the league’s revenue split. The NHL has been without a collective bargaining agreement since Sept. 15.
